Is time travel possible ?

Yes time travel is a real thing indeed! A century ago, a popular scientist with a big head in the name of Albert Einstein came up with an idea about how time works. He called it 'relativity'.This theory states that time and space are connected. He also said, nothing can travel faster than light, which was later proved wrong, since our universe itself expands faster than light.

Well, according to this theory, the faster you travel, the slower you experience time. Scientists have done some experiments to show that this is true. 

 There was an experiment that used two clocks, which were set to the exact same time. One clock stayed on Earth, while the other flew in an airplane. After the plane flew around the world, scientists compared the two clocks. The clock on the fast-moving aircraft was slightly behind the clock on the ground.

So if you could travel at the speed of light, you can time travel to future. Now you might wonder about travelling to the past. Come on let's see!

Time travelling to past

Travelling to the past is impossible. This is because, it does not obey the laws of our dimension. This is supported by the grandfather paradox and bootstrap paradox.

Grandfather paradox - Let's suppose you have a time machine that allows you to travel back into the past. While you're there, you accidentally kill one of your grandparents or any other direct ancestor before they have any offspring. That would alter a whole chain of future events, including your own birth, which would no longer happen. But if you weren't born in the future, then you couldn't kill your ancestor in the past. Thus a never-ending loop is created.

Bootstrap paradox - This is more like the grandfather paradox. Let's assume you are in 2022,  affected by Covid-19 and you travel back to 2019 and accidentally you cough and spread Covid. So now, how was Covid introduced to Earth ? Once again, this also becomes a never-ending loop.

Now this is associated with the multiverse theory. In any of the above situations, a separate branch of time line is created, resulting in a separate universe, with two possible outcomes. For instance, let's take the first situation. In one universe, you may have killed your grandpa and continued to live normally and in the other universe you will be erased, since you killed your grandpa.

The conclusion is, time travel may and may not be possible.
